Women in Scottish Aquaculture (WiSA) exists to introduce more women into aquaculture, and support those already working in the sector.

WiSA is a collaborative network for everyone working in the Scottish aquaculture industry. Open for all to join, WiSA will promote the diverse and rewarding careers that are available in aquaculture, to encourage more women to enter the sector. It will also support the progression, opportunities and development of women who are already working in aquaculture.
WiSA aims:
- 1. TO RAISE AWARENESS of the opportunities for women to work in the aquaculture industry;
2. TO PROVIDE A NETWORK for women to develop their careers within the industry;
3. TO SUPPORT INDUSTRY in developing the potential of women within the workplace at all levels.

Supporting Women
A survey conducted by SAIC revealed overwhelming industry support for the creation of a ‘women in aquaculture’ group. Almost 200 participants provided responses to the survey from across the UK aquaculture industry, of which:
73%
said they would be interested in joining the group
90%
said the group should provide networking support to those working, or considering, a career in UK aquaculture
66%
agreed that it should raise awareness of women working in UK aquaculture
