Supplying low carbon, high value seafood to domestic and international markets, it plays a crucial role in food security and rural economic resilience. Salmon, shellfish and seaweed farming support thousands of jobs and hundreds of supply chain businesses across the country. Driven by innovation and underpinned by strong science, the sector is evolving rapidly.

We channel our resources into the areas that will benefit the Scottish aquaculture sector the most, including reducing its environmental footprint and increasing its economic impact. The research we fund is geared towards meeting genuine needs and solving industry challenges.
