Scotland shone at Aqua Nor 2025

Looking back on a successful week for the Scottish Pavilion at Aqua Nor 2025.

In an exclusive piece for Fish Farmer magazine, Elaine Jamieson, Head of Life Sciences and Blue Economy at Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), reflected on the efforts of Team Scotland - a partnership of HIE, SAIC, the Scottish Government's Marine Directorate, and Scottish Development International (SDI) - at Aqua Nor, 19-21 August 2025.

From high-level panels on disruptive innovation and cluster development to meaningful conversations with global partners, Team Scotland  showcased why Scottish aquaculture is trusted and respected on the world stage.

The piece, featured in the September 2025 issue of Fish Farmer magazine, lists the companies and organisations taking part in the Scottish Pavilion and includes feedback from selected exhibitors - Ocean Kinetics, Pulcea, UK Agri-Tech Centre and SAMS Enterprise.

Further feedback from the Scottish Pavilion

Supplementing the feedback given in the Fish Farmer article, SAIC is pleased to share these comments from other Scottish Pavilion exhibitors

“GenusWave was honoured to stand amongst many esteemed companies exhibiting as part of Aqua Nor’s 2025 Scottish Pavilion. Always a productive week in Trondheim, the Pavilion allowed us the platform to forge new relationships with potential collaborators from around the globe and the opportunity to reconnect in person with treasured friends.”
Kylie DaCunha, Director of Special Projects, GenusWave

“We had a fantastic few days at Aqua Nor, connecting with clients and celebrating the continued success of our NetJet. It’s inspiring to be part of such an innovative aquaculture sector, and we’re proud to supply the market with units engineered and built in Scotland.”
Matt Nicholl, Sales Director, Brimmond

"The Institute of Aquaculture made full use of the exposure that the Scottish pavilion provided, successfully promoting the commercial offerings in analytical services (NAS) and the newly build National Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Hub (NATIH). It was great to see the interest shown by industry colleagues, potential collaborators and old friends."
James Dick, Technical Manager, Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling

“The atmosphere and buzz around the Scottish Pavilion all week was fantastic.  Providing a place for business meetings, informative talks, and networking; being part of the stand allowed us to not only showcase our business but build business relationships and foster partnerships for work now and into the future.”
Kate Archer, Operations and Communications Co-ordinator, Underwater Contracting

“Participating at the Scottish Pavilion at AquaNor confirmed the potential of our functional feed ingredient to address one of the most critical bottlenecks constraining the growth of aquaculture, access to sustainable, scalable, and cost effective aqua feeds.  AquaNor was powerful in connecting with partners and colleagues who can help execute our vision of improving both fish health and the economics of salmon farming.”
Roger Frank, CEO, AlgiSys Aqua Ltd.

“The Roslin Institute was proud to join the Scottish Pavilion for the first time, to represent our place in the Scottish research innovation sector and to exchange ideas with others. As well as developing new and ongoing partnerships with attendees, and taking part in an event with the Cabinet Secretary Mairi Gougeon, one primary goal we achieved was to introduce several of our PhD students and early career researchers to the breadth of industry research represented at the event, providing valuable opportunities for them to promote their research, develop new collaborations and share their experiences with others.”
Nick Wade, Group Leader (Aquaculture Genetics), Roslin Institute

“Thanks to HIE and SAIC we were able to make Aqua Nor the key stone of YAS’s 2025 and engage with stakeholders from around the world. Having the international recognition of being associated with the stand will help us in our mission to support young people through their careers – by allowing us to build lasting partnerships with industry leaders.”
Andrew Richardson, Founder and President, Young Aquaculture Society
