Johanna Baily is a veterinary pathologist and fish vet with extensive expertise in aquatic histopathology, fish health, and animal welfare. She serves as Senior Advisor Histology and Histopathologist at PatoGen, where she works closely with producers, vets, and researchers to investigate disease and support healthier fish populations.

Johanna holds a DVM (Toulouse 2002), PhD, and Dipl. ECVP, and is a European specialist in veterinary pathology through the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP). She studies fish at the cellular and molecular level to better understand how diseases develop and affect aquatic systems, turning complex scientific findings into practical insights that help producers improve fish health, welfare, and performance.

Based in Scotland, Johanna combines academic expertise with hands-on experience in aquatic animal health. Since joining PatoGen in 2022, she has helped develop and deliver diagnostic services that support healthy and sustainable aquaculture. She also holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship in Aquatic Pathology at the University of Stirling, where she contributes to teaching and training the next generation of fish health professionals.
