Aquaculture UK 2026

Meet SAIC at stand A24

SAIC will be exhibiting at Aquaculture UK this year, taking place in Glasgow for the first time following the move from Aviemore.

The move to Glasgow brings this event to larger, more accessible setting while maintaining its focus on the technologies and collaborations shaping the future of aquaculture.

With rapid technological change influencing production systems and operational models, the event remains an important opportunity for industry stakeholders to stay informed and connected.

SAIC will be located at stand A24 throughout the exhibition.

As well as exhibiting, SAIC is hosting two panel sessions in the Keynote and Innovation Theatres, and chaired by SAIC’s Sarah Riddle.

Tuesday 16 June, 15:30-16:15, Keynote Theatre

Beyond the horizon: the next 25 years of finfish aquaculture

Scottish finfish aquaculture is entering a period of rapid change, shaped by technological innovation, environmental and climate impacts and the need for resilient long‑term growth. Over the next 25 years, the sector will adopt new production systems, operate in new environments, and respond to evolving regulatory and societal pressures. From farming beyond three nautical miles to semi‑contained systems, the industry will continue to adapt to secure its future competitiveness and sustainability. And these are only part of the picture - infrastructure investment, planning, fish health, and emerging tech will all influence what the next generation of finfish farming looks like.

Join us for this panel session featuring leaders from industry, regulation, health and welfare and technology to explore the drivers of change and the practical steps required to seize new opportunities. Panellists:

  • Anne Anderson, TirMara Advisory
  • Stewart Graham, Gael Force Group
  • Chris Matthews, PHARMAQ Analytiq
  • Mark Shotter, Loch Long Salmon
  • Mike Spain, Crown Estate Scotland

From hands-on to high-tech: automation, robotics and AI in aquaculture

Aquaculture is entering a period of rapid technological acceleration. Robotics, automation, machine learning and AI are no longer futuristic concepts, they are already being used across fish health, environmental monitoring, feeding, welfare assessment, and farm operations. Drawing on insights from a SAIC workshop in 2025, and in partnership with the National Robotarium, this panel discussion will explore how these technologies could reshape aquaculture faster than expected, and what the sector must consider to fully harness their potential. The focus is not just what is possible, but what is coming, what is inevitable, and what choices the industry must prepare for. Panellists:

  • Naomi Battison, National Robotarium
  • Mick Bower, Managing Director, Underwater Contracting Ltd. (UCO)
  • Grant Gwyther, Chief of Staff, Touchlab
  • Cameron Jones, Regional Seawater Manager, Mowi
  • David Valente, Robotics Engineer, National Robotarium
