SAIC Introduces: RUBISKO
RUBISKO builds bespoke software platforms for emerging bio-based industries, specialising as a knowledge hub and service provider for the European seaweed industry.
The idea grew out of a vertical farm in an old World War II bunker in southwest London. As the farm manager, Will Varcoe developed a simple data-entry platform to make his own job more efficient and transparent.
Today, the RUBISKO team offers bespoke yet affordable software for a range of emerging agriculture and aquaculture industries. Utilising the latest innovations in AI-assisted development, customised applications can be designed, tested, and deployed through the RUBISKO portal in a matter of weeks.
"We are process experts first, and software developers second," says Will Varcoe, Co-Founder and CEO of RUBISKO. That philosophy has taken the RUBISKO team to ten countries, where they have worked directly with clients to understand real-world operations before designing software to support them.
Since its founding in 2023, RUBISKO has served customers from seaweed farms to university greenhouses. Recent examples include RUBISKO Labs, an offline-capable data collection platform for feed-trial experiments. The company also runs RUBISKO Hub, an industry-wide intelligence platform tracking companies, species, and research across the global seaweed value chain.
For seaweed and aquaculture operators, RUBISKO bridges the gap between day-to-day farm operations and the data rigor increasingly demanded by funders, certifiers, and buyers, turning records that used to live in spreadsheets into a structured, actionable system. The team helps producers structure and manage their operational and production data: establishing traceability and compliance for new markets, cutting the time spent on data admin, and building predictive models from data companies already generate on-farm.
