Collaboration in focus as SAIC launches networking hub
SAIC has launched a new digital forum to encourage collaboration among its consortium members, promoting cross-industry networking and knowledge-sharing across the aquaculture sector.
SAIC's 220 member organisations are being invited to join the SAIC Consortium Forum, which has been designed to facilitate the sharing of valuable resources and knowledge that can fuel sustainable growth and development in aquaculture. The forum was demonstrated to some of the current members at an online launch event on 7th July.
Users will be able to access a range of features, from interactive discussion boards to collaboration opportunities and job vacancies, as well as virtual networking with producers, researchers, supply chain businesses and other companies involved in the sector.
Professionals from any of SAIC’s member companies can access the free-to-use platform, opening up further routes to collaborative working, for instance through SAIC’s innovation projects.
A similar platform is also set to launch later this summer for the over 300 members of the Women in Scottish Aquaculture (WiSA) network – a group that promotes diversity within aquaculture, supports career development, and encourages new talent into the burgeoning sector.
Heather Jones, CEO of SAIC said: “Collaboration is one of the most important factors that can influence growth in aquaculture, and we want to connect professionals from a wide range of sectors and geographies in an easily accessible and supportive way. SAIC’s new forum will provide a great opportunity for our members to collaborate, share knowledge and best practice, and access useful resources that can help shape the future of the sector.
“Our aim is to support and develop relationships across all areas of aquaculture, connecting professionals at every stage of their careers. In due course, we also plan to develop mobile apps that will allow people to easily access the platform from any location, whether they are on a fish farm or at home.”
