SAIC welcomes new summer interns

We are delighted to welcome our new summer interns, Benjamin Kao and Patricija Balina who will be working on various projects for a period of 12 weeks. Benjamin will be focusing on data analysis and Patricija will be working on our skills development and Women in Scottish Aquaculture initiatives.

Originally from Brazil/Taiwan and a first-year student at the University of St Andrews studying Sustainable Development, Benjamin says, “I am excited to be working at SAIC as an intern for the summer because of an interest in learning more about the aquaculture industry through practical projects”.

Patricija is a second-year student, studying Environmental Science at the University of Stirling and is originally from Latvia. She says, “I chose to intern with SAIC as I recognised the importance and the potential of growth of the aquaculture industry, as well as how little awareness of aquaculture exists in society. I will be working with the Head of Skills & Talent, Mary Fraser and the Women in Scottish Aquaculture (WiSA) group. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to support the promotion of diversity within the industry and acquire the right tools to further promote aquaculture within my university and among my peers”.
